The Mimita Badge of Courage is named after the founder’s grandmother. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 48 and had a radical mastectomy. She enjoyed life to the fullest, with a zest for life, and lived to the age of 97. This colorful badge commemorates her life.
The Mimita Badge of Courage has an orange flower that is hand painted on golden yellow fabric. It has a large red-orange bead, embroidered on each petal. Golden beads surround the petal shapes and small orange beads accentuate them. There is a circle of orange beads embroidered in the center, reminiscent of the shape of the female breast. This badge has the choice of the following words embroidered on the back: SERENITY (ENG.) or SERENIDAD (SPAN.).
SIZES: S (3.25″ wide x 2″ high)
M (4″ wide x 2.5″ high)
L (4.5″ wide x 2.5″ high)
Due to the handmade nature, no two badges are the same. Because of this, some of the embroidered words may be different in color than pictured on this website. Made in Chile, by women who have been directly affected by breast cancer, they provide a fair wage to women whose work is not exploited, but rather, appreciated.
