The Marta Ostria Badge of Courage is one of our most special badges for someone with breast cancer. It is named after the founder’s mother. Marta was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 68 and had a radical mastectomy. A 12 year survivor, she is enjoying life and loves to sing along to oldies.
This special badge is a genuine beauty. A butterfly, one of Marta’s favorite things, has been hand painted on pink fabric. It’s top wings are embroidered with silver and gold glass bugles and the bottom wings are embroidered with iridescent purple glass beads. There are small purple beads embroidered inside the bottom wings and four decorative beads are embroidered within the top wings. A large purple bead is at its center and even the antennas have been created with pink beads. This badge has the word FREEDOM hand embroidered on the back, providing a beautiful gift for a breast cancer patient.
Due to the handmade nature, no two badges are the same. Because of this, some of the embroidered words may be different in color than pictured on this website. Made in Chile, by women who have been directly affected by breast cancer, they provide a fair wage to women whose work is not exploited, but rather, appreciated.
